How business days are counted
Every Monday to Friday between the two dates counts, starting with the start date. Tick Include end date to count the last day too. With holidays switched on, each US federal holiday that is observed on a weekday is removed. When a holiday falls on a Saturday it is observed the Friday before; on a Sunday, the Monday after.
Example: Monday, November 23 to Friday, November 27, 2026, both included, is 5 weekdays minus Thanksgiving (Nov 26) = 4 business days. Adding business days skips the start date, so 10 business days after a Friday lands on the Friday two weeks later.

Frequently asked questions
How many business days are in a year?
A year has 260 or 261 weekdays (262 in a few leap years). Taking away the 11 US federal holidays leaves about 250 working days.
Is the start date counted?
When counting between dates, yes, if it is a weekday. When adding business days, no: day 1 is the next working day, which is how deadlines like "within 5 business days" are usually read.
Does it include state or bank holidays?
Only the 11 US federal holidays. Banks follow the Federal Reserve schedule, which is very close, but local and company holidays are not included.
