Elapsed Time Calculator
Measure the time between two moments, or watch the time since one tick up live.
Between two dates and times
Elapsed since a moment, live
How to use it
- Set the start and end date and time. Set to now fills in the current moment.
- Read the elapsed time in days, hours and minutes, plus the total in each unit.
- For a running count, set Since — the live counter updates every second.
How elapsed time is calculated
The calculator subtracts the two timestamps and splits the difference: days = seconds ÷ 86,400, then hours, minutes and seconds from the remainder.
Example: Monday 9:00 AM to Wednesday 3:30 PM = 2 days 6 h 30 min = 54.5 hours = 3,270 minutes.
Frequently asked questions
What is elapsed time?
Elapsed time is how much time passes between a start and an end. It is a duration, so it can be longer than 24 hours.
How do I find elapsed time between two times on different days?
Count the full days between the dates, then add the hours and minutes from the start time to the end time. Entering both date-times here does it for you.
Is the result affected by time zones?
Both times are read in your device's time zone, so the result is real elapsed time, including any daylight saving shift between them.
