Rock Paper Scissors
Pick your move — the computer chooses at the same moment.
Choose!
How to play
- Choose a match length — best of 3, 5, 7, or endless.
- Tap Rock, Paper or Scissors (or press R, P or S).
- Rock blunts scissors, scissors cut paper, paper wraps rock. Same move is a draw.
- First to win the majority of the match wins; draws don't count toward it.
Is there a winning strategy?
Against a truly random opponent — like this computer — no strategy beats the 1-in-3 odds of winning each round. Against people it is different: beginners often open with rock, and players who just lost tend to switch to the move that would have beaten them. Use it as a quick, fair way to decide who goes first.
Frequently asked questions
Does the computer cheat by seeing my move?
No. The computer's move is picked at random independently of yours, so each round you have an equal chance to win, lose, or draw.
How many wins do you need in best of 5?
Three. In best of 3 you need two wins and in best of 7 you need four. Draws are replayed and don't count.
