Front of room

Tip: drag a student onto another seat, or tap one seat then another to swap.

How to make a seating chart

  1. Set the number of rows and columns to match your desks.
  2. Paste student names, one per line.
  3. Press Randomize for a fresh plan, or In list order to seat them alphabetically or however you listed them.
  4. Drag names (or tap two seats) to swap anyone who needs to sit near the front or apart, then Print.

Seating tips

  • Leave a few empty seats by making more desks than students — handy for new arrivals.
  • Seat students who need the board most in the rows nearest “Front of room”.
  • Change the plan every few weeks so students work with new classmates.

Frequently asked questions

How do I swap two students?

On a computer, drag one name onto another seat. On a phone or tablet, tap the first seat (it highlights), then tap the seat to swap with.

Can I print the seating chart?

Yes. Press Print and only the chart is printed, with the title and front-of-room label, so it fits neatly on one page.

What if I have more students than seats?

The chart shows a warning with how many students did not fit. Add rows or columns until everyone has a seat.
