How to use the pace calculator

  1. Choose what to calculate: pace, finish time or distance.
  2. Pick kilometers or miles, then fill in the other two values. Tap 5K, 10K, half or marathon to set the distance.
  3. Times accept 25:00 (minutes:seconds) or 1:45:00 (hours:minutes:seconds).

Pace formulas

Pace = time ÷ distance · Time = pace × distance · Distance = time ÷ pace. One mile is 1.609344 km.

Example: a 10K in 55:00 → 3,300 s ÷ 10 = 330 s = 5:30 per km (8:51 per mile, 10.9 km/h).

Frequently asked questions

What pace do I need for a sub-2-hour half marathon?

Faster than 5:41 per km or 9:09 per mile. Holding 5:40/km finishes in about 1:59:33.

How do I convert pace per km to pace per mile?

Multiply the pace in seconds by 1.609344. A 5:00/km pace is 300 × 1.609344 = 483 s = 8:03 per mile.

How is pace different from speed?

Pace is time per distance (minutes per km); speed is distance per time (km/h). A 6:00/km pace equals 10 km/h.
